There are a number of reasons why you may need to delete a Hotmail account of yours, and you have to know how to do it. Naturally, it is a very simple procedure which, nevertheless, will take some time. This way, Microsoft gives you a possibility to change your mind and stop the deactivation of your account within a certain span. In order to deactivate your Hotmail account, stick to the following procedure:
Choose Outlook.com among other MSN programs or type in one of the following links in your browser: http://outlook.com or http://hotmail.com
Type the name of your account and password in and log in the Hotmail system.
Click on your profile icon (or a profile photo) and select "View account."
Among other buttons placed on a blue line, choose the "Security & privacy" section. After it, click on the "More security settings" button on the left side of the screen.
Scroll the newly-opened window down until you will reach the last option: "Close your account" (have a look at the screenshot).
At the bottom of the screen, you will see the "Close my account" text button colored in blue. Click on it.
The window opened in your browser will show a warning about deactivating the account. Make sure that you have read all the important information and proceed further (i.e. click on Next). If you changed your mind, click on the "Cancel" button.
In the newly-opened window, place a tick near each provided line. There, you will be told that you have 60 days (from the moment of clicking on the "Mark account for closure" button) to cancel your decision about deactivating the account. In the bottom part of the screen, choose the reason why you want to delete the account (or you can specify that "your reason is not listed"). Click on "Mark account for closure".
The procedure is completed. You will get a final message when the account will be completely deleted.
